  • How MobiLoud Helped Foreign Policy Built Modern Native Apps for Their Digital Magazine

How MobiLoud Helped Foreign Policy Built Modern Native Apps for Their Digital Magazine

Foreign Policy is a US-based publisher focused on current affairs, global events, and domestic and international policy matters.

They’ve been around for half a century and are still going strong, presenting “the world to Washington and Washington to the world”.

Foreign Policy publishes six print issues annually and have several podcasts and newsletters.

Naturally though, their website is the cornerstone of their brand, where they publish articles throughout the day.

In 2020, MobiLoud helped them turn their website into a native app, improving their workflow by making it easier to manage their website and app together.

Read more to learn about their experience.

    What about apps?

We spoke with Chief Product Officer Adam Griffiths who explained they already had an iOS mobile app on the stores for about three years, but it wasn’t set up in a way that was easy to update, evolve and iterate on. It wasn’t syncing with their WordPress site and constantly required the external team that developed it to manage and improve on it.

Last year, a new publisher came on board at Foreign Policy. One of his goals was to get the app up and running again, modernize it, and develop one for Android too.

Developing an Android app was a smart goal, as it broadened the reach of the magazine, given its global audience.

The Foreign Policy mobile app built by MobiLoud

    Finding MobiLoud

Adam was tasked with making it happen. He checked out a few options and came across MobiLoud. We specialize in developing apps for publishers and news outlets so it was a natural fit.

Adam wanted to check out our references before committing to anything.

“First, we talked to some references. MobiLoud had built an app for Business Insider in Europe and our publisher came from Business Insider here. We got in touch with the head of that project for that app, and they had a really good experience with MobiLoud. That definitely made us feel good about making that decision”

With the decision made, the work could begin.

Adam already had a good idea of what they wanted and had thrown around some design ideas and concepts with his team.

“We were able to hit the ground running really fast which was nice”

It’s great if you have a solid plan for what you want from your app. If you don’t though that’s no problem – we’ll help you to build one.

We can take care of the whole design and build process through our custom plan, or you can use our platform to easily develop great apps yourself. Either way we’re in regular contact with throughout the process to make sure the apps are a success.

“The previous company we used was pretty much totally an offshoring operation, so it was nice to have the team at MobiLoud connecting with us directly on a weekly basis as the project evolved. We got a good sense very quickly that they were easy to work with”

Adam had a list of features and customizations he wanted the app to have, so we got to work building a roadmap to get there.

“Very early on the thing that I appreciated about working with Pietro and the team was that we had a pretty clear cut vision as to what we wanted when we went in. MobiLoud’s team took that outline and within a couple of weeks had a really good assessment of whether these things were doable”

After assessing everything, we let Adam and the team know exactly what was completely doable right out of the box, and what might need some additional thought and planning.

“Many of the things we asked for were already on the MobiLoud roadmap, as they help each client customize the app and tailor it to individual needs. The process is very clear and transparent”

We support many features as standard, but whatever the requirements our team can generally work with you to figure out a solution. That’s what we’re doing with Foreign Policy.

But the priority was getting great apps launched so their audience could start enjoying them on iOS and Android ASAP.

    An Ongoing Partnership

Once the app was ready and live they were very happy with it – and had to let their readers know that there was a new and improved channel to get their content through.

“We did a marketing campaign as soon as we had this new app that we were really proud of. It was shiny and new and we knew it would work reliably for anyone who installed it!”

Promoting your app to your audience when it launches is a smart move. Many of them are probably already wondering when you’ll release one and will be excited to install it.

“I just checked this morning and we’ve already seen about a 40% uptick in traffic to the product page on the Appstore”

    A Better Reader Experience

There was also some solid evidence that Foreign Policy readers were enjoying the new and improved mobile experience.

“We’ve also seen more people keeping the app installed for more than 30 days. People are definitely seeing the update and using it. We’ve got a lot of great feedback from our users. We just launched on Android and we had a thousand installs in the first 30 days”

We worked closely with Adam and the team at Foreign policy to make sure the success of their app project continues to grow.

“If you’re set up on WordPress and you’re serious about WordPress – MobiLoud really get WordPress. [..] They can really be there for you in whatever capacity you need them to be for your team”

They’ve since moved on to a custom developed app, but their MobiLoud app was a key step in the growth of their digital publishing strategy.

Our platform takes any site, on any platform, and converts it into native apps. That includes WordPress, custom sites on platforms like React and Laravel, and sites on ecommerce platforms like Shopify and BigCommerce.

We were happy to work with a brand like Foreign Policy, helping them get their great content out to their audience through the best possible channel.

We can help your brand get on the App Stores fast and affordably too.

If you run a high traffic site and are willing to share a little ad space, you might quality for our Publisher Program. You’ll get iOS and Android apps as good as The New York Times or Huffpost, at no upfront cost to you!

GV Wire Sees 62% Growth YoY For their Award-Winning Mobile News Platform

In a competitive arena, GV Wire could no longer afford to put their mobile user experience on the back burner.

When they rebuilt their website with mobile users in mind, the timing turned out perfect to launch a mobile app as well. This app and their new focus on mobile UX has helped GV Wire be recognized as one of the standouts in their industry.

Read on to learn more about GV Wire’s journey to building an app, and why they chose MobiLoud to help them do it.

    About GV Wire

GV Wire is a news outlet based in the Central Valley area of California, publishing news and content on issues relevant to the region’s residents.

With a number of mid-sized cities and news outlets in the region, there’s a lot of competition for reader’s attention, leading GV Wire to look for a way not just to keep up, but to stand out.

    The Challenge

Most people today prefer to use their phones to get fresh news and content. In the Central California publisher arena, those who stood out were the outlets who were able to provide a great experience for mobile readers.

This is something that GV Wire had on their horizon for some time, as Product Manager Jake Tracy told us:

“I started with GV Wire in 2020 and they’d wanted a mobile-first experience for their user base for over a decade. We did a complete redesign and rebuild in 2021 of the website to focus on a mobile-first experience.”

    The Solution

Along with a mobile-friendly website, many competitors took it one step further and launched their own app as well.

“We noticed that a lot of news media outlets were starting to have a mobile app companion for their website, even though their website remained their flagship.”

Jake and GV Wire set out to do the same. Their idea was to take the new, improved mobile website they’d built and package it as an app as many of their competitors had done.

    Choosing MobiLoud

Most customers we talk to felt out what it would take to build a custom native app first. Jake was the same. However, budget aside, he felt a custom app project didn’t really fit what they wanted.

“I reached out to a couple of contacts I had for custom mobile app development, but I was trying to find something almost like a template or framework that could house GV Wire so we could minimize the technical debt for the project. You guys actually had a really solid solution.”

Our solution was the MobiLoud platform, which let them wrap their website in mobile app code, delivering the same experience as an app, with little to no changes to their backend or to their publishing workflow.

MobiLoud’s track record helped convince Jake this was the way to go.

“It seemed like you guys were very professional and had experience. You guys were able to provide case studies to build our confidence in the decision process.”

    Results

GV Wire’s readers are happy with the app, with users and downloads showing sustained growth.

“Our mobile app has grown about 62% year over year in users and downloads, and we hope to continue that growth as we continue to grow our brand.”

But more notably, their new app, along with their overall focus on mobile users, has made GV Wire into an award-winner in the California news publisher market.

“This year we were awarded the Best Mid-Sized Digital News Site by the CNPA (California News Publishing Association). I think that partnering with MobiLoud to launch our mobile app last year as a companion to the website has been a great help in achieving that.”

MobiLoud is the Best Way for Publishers to Build Their Own App

Helping publishers turn their site into mobile apps with minimal expense, effort and complexity is our bread and butter.

Jake is another happy customer, having seen the impact an app can have and the extremely low investment required to ship it.

“I would definitely recommend MobiLoud for any kind of mobile app development in the digital news space.”

Whether you’re on WordPress, any other CMS, or you have a custom-built HTML website, MobiLoud is a perfect fit.

  • WinWink Launched an Improved Mobile App to Unlock Cost-Effective Engagement

WinWink Launched an Improved Mobile App to Unlock Cost-Effective Engagement

Fast-growing competition platform WinWink depends on speed, urgency, and frequent customer touchpoints to drive participation across dozens of daily competitions.

Today, a mobile app is a key touchpoint for fast-moving, high-engagement brands like WinWink. But their previous mobile app setup wasn’t delivering; and building a custom app wasn’t a realistic option.

Working with MobiLoud, WinWink relaunched their app quickly, overcoming the challenges of migrating to a new platform and launching in time for one of the most important periods on their calendar.

    Snapshot

    Vertical: Online competitions & raffles

    Platform: WordPress

    Business Impact:

    • Successfully relaunched mobile app ahead of Cyber Monday
    • Positive customer feedback on app design and usability
    • Steady growth in active users after launch
    • Established push notifications as a strategic, low-cost engagement channel

“If you need the app and you need something that works and is effective for you, go with MobiLoud. It’s no more headache. Don’t worry about it.”

-Frank Strauss, Head of Growth at WinWink

    The Roadblock

WinWink already had a mobile app. But it wasn’t working.

The previous provider delivered what was essentially a direct pull of the website. The idea was fine – their website as an app. But it was missing the differentiation and optimization needed for a true app experience. Structurally, it failed to meet expectations and didn’t support WinWink’s broader growth strategy.

Launching a new, improved version of their app was a priority. But at the same time, building a fully custom app wasn’t viable.

It would have meant a lengthy development cycle, high costs, and ongoing technical overhead; a poor fit for a business focused on rapid iteration and multi-channel growth.

“If we went the route of building an app clean, it’s a whole dev project. It’s ins and outs and multiple things.”

    Why They Chose MobiLoud

After researching alternatives and speaking with peers in the competition space, WinWink identified MobiLoud as the most practical path forward.

What stood out was MobiLoud’s experience, clarity, and proven process. The team was able to answer questions quickly, anticipate edge cases, and clearly outline what would (and wouldn’t) work.

Just as importantly, MobiLoud offered a way to deliver a clean, native app experience without turning the project into a long-term development burden.

“To be effective, clean, and have it actually look and feel and operate as an app, without the complete nightmare of having to build one, this was the route to go.”

    Launch & Results

The app relaunch came with real-world constraints.

WinWink needed to migrate away from their previous provider, resolve access issues with Apple and Google developer accounts, and still launch just ahead of Cyber Monday; a critical moment for the business.

Despite the pressure, the MobiLoud team worked hard to ensure their app went live successfully.

    Early signals have been encouraging:

    • Strong internal and customer feedback on design and look-and-feel
    • A short-term cleanup of legacy users, followed by steady growth in active users
    • Clear momentum toward using the app as a core engagement channel

The next phase focuses on building out push notification flows, tightly integrated with WinWink’s existing Klaviyo setup, with the goal of reducing reliance on costly SMS while increasing urgency and participation.

    The Takeaway

For a business like WinWink, where urgency, frequency, and cost efficiency matter, a mobile app isn’t just another channel. It’s a strategic advantage.

By partnering with MobiLoud, WinWink avoided the pitfalls of custom development and underperforming app builders, launching a real app experience that fits seamlessly into their growth stack.

“We felt quite at ease moving ahead with MobiLoud. WinWink is a very interesting business, and the time and effort you guys have given to look at our nuances and specific needs has been extremely helpful.”

The foundation is now in place. As push notifications and automation mature, the app is positioned to become a major driver of engagement and revenue – without adding operational complexity.

  • MobiLoud Helped Kazderni Generate 400k Downloads and Dominate their Market

MobiLoud Helped Kazderni Generate 400k Downloads and Dominate their Market

Booking app Kazderni had a great idea to make a splash in app-centric Lebanon. But they ran into roadblocks in the app development process that threatened to hold them back, or worse, derail them completely.

They’re now the #1 travel and tourism app in Lebanon, and have done so without taking on the cost and complexity of developing and maintaining native apps.

We talked to Mohamad, Kazderni’s CEO, about their journey, and how MobiLoud helped them reach the top.

Kazderni’s Story: Launching an Airbnb-Type App for the Lebanon Market

Kazderni is an Airbnb-style booking app specifically designed for the Lebanese market, leveraging the country’s unique geography and tourism appeal.

The app allows users to find and book guesthouses, as well as restaurants, taxis and a wide variety of activities in the country.

Naturally, a business like this is designed to be mobile-first. They needed people to be able to find and access Kazderni via the web, but the market in Lebanon leaned heavily in favor of apps, so launching and maintaining a high-quality app was priority number one moving forward.

    The Challenge

Mohamad faced a tough decision on how to move forward with developing the app.

The marketing plan and roadmap were both app-first. However, he recognized that building mobile apps, even using cross-platform frameworks like Flutter and React Native, was so much more complex than building apps on the web.

“My case is very unique because a lot of what I needed had to be custom made. I know how complex it is to build apps. As an example, a sign-in module needs a week of development and testing. But I can install a plugin on WordPress and it’s done.”

To complicate matters further, Mohamad’s team from an earlier development attempt had failed him, leaving him in a hole and with a tight timeline to get a product out there.

    The Solution

Mohamad’s day-to-day was overflowing with the tasks of running his team, and managing the app.

He knew he couldn’t manage two teams (one for the web and one for the app). And with the complexity and time investment it took to build and maintain apps, the only option forward was to keep working from the website and find a way to convert that into an app.

“I thought, the easiest way is if I can find a WordPress theme that does what I need, and find a way to reliably turn it into an app. I found 20, 30 companies that did this. I read some reviews, I talked to some of them. And, I’ll be honest with you, MobiLoud was easily the most expensive. But I knew some of them didn’t work, and some of them were kind of, ‘you’re on your own.’ Something went wrong, the app store changed a particular library? Best of luck to you, you had to figure that out on your own.”

The hybrid app approach allowed for faster development, easier maintenance, and the ability to leverage existing WordPress plugins and features.

As mentioned, there were many options that did this for WordPress sites, but most made big claims, flaunted attractive pricing, but would lead to headaches down the road.

MobiLoud proved the best solution to turn their web app into mobile apps, coming with the support and care they needed, to be able to focus exclusively on one set of code, without the extra complexity that came with managing an app.

    __wf_reserved_inherit

Leading Their Market with 400k+ Downloads

So far, Kazerni’s WordPress to app strategy has worked incredibly well.

Within two years of launching, they have more than 400,000 downloads, putting them at the top of their market.

“17 apps in Lebanon do what we do. We have more downloads than all of them combined.”

Their average session time of roughly eight and a half minutes is more than many other high-profile apps, and this level of engagement is proof that they lose nothing by not building a standalone native app.

All the Benefits of Web and App

Much of the app’s success is down to simplifying their development process, and being able to iterate and build features far quicker than they could with traditional mobile app development.

“Flutter is near-native on both Android and iOS, and you can easily make a web replica of it. But it’s not even about that, it’s about these native core features and how difficult it is to develop them on any framework, in comparison to an existing WordPress or Shopify website.”

Instead of spending weeks building and testing each feature for the app, they’re able to leverage the significantly faster development workflow with WordPress and WooCommerce and the ecosystem of tools they provide.

With MobiLoud, they can build features for the web in a fraction of the time, and have these features seamlessly carry over to their mobile apps.

“The web market is just so much more mature, and it’s so much easier to build a website than it is to build an app. The web business has a 25-year head start on the app business. And there isn’t the complexity of having to build for Android and iOS and then build for the web.”

Launch an App Without the Headache

Kazderni’s business model is app-first, and MobiLoud allowed them to live up to this without getting into the murky waters of native app development.

They now have an app that gives them a new level of credibility – credibility they’ve parlayed not just into new users, but also key partnerships that move their business forward, and have them thinking about expanding into neighboring markets.

Mohamad describes an app as “the ultimate piece of free marketing” – a billboard that sits on the user’s phone all day, and helps set them apart from the free for all of the booking app market.

MobiLoud was the catalyst that let them do it, in a short space of time and with none of the headaches that come from juggling multiple platforms.

If you think the time is right to enter the mobile app market, get in touch with us. No matter what platform you’re on, no matter what your goals, MobiLoud will help you build amazing apps while adding virtually nothing to your operational workflow.

  • How MobiLoud Helped The Flowery Gain an Edge in a Highly Regulated Industry

How MobiLoud Helped The Flowery Gain an Edge in a Highly Regulated Industry

Ecommerce businesses in highly regulated industries have to contend with a lot of hurdles, as Florida-based medical cannabis store The Flowery knows very well.

They came to MobiLoud to help ship a mobile app that would give them an owned channel they could use to cultivate their customer base and expand their business.

Learn how we helped them begin the next stage of their business by launching their own mobile app.

    The Challenge

Because of the regulatory hurdles they have to deal with, and the complexities of their industry, the ecommerce side of The Flowery’s business has a lot of moving parts.

Their site is a custom-built headless WooCommerce site, which is essentially a web app rather than a static online store.

Their tech stack and setup allows them to do a lot of things that set them apart from other cannabis stores in their market, such as the ability for customers to store their medical card information and for the site to automatically pull up and validate this info whenever the customer makes a purchase.

So they would need a mobile app solution that worked with their unique tech stack.

Another key reason to do an app was push notifications.

The Flowery are trying to recreate the “Uber Eats experience” and give regular delivery updates to provide a great experience each time someone buys from them.

Email wouldn’t work for this, as it’s not “instant” enough. And they ran into problems with SMS, as mobile carriers would throttle them, due to the industry they’re in.

That left push notifications as the best option. Like a mainstream delivery app, they wanted something that could send notifications directly to the customer’s home screen to give them a direct line to their delivery status, to the minute.

For that, they needed an app.

And in the end, the greatest challenge was doing all this with minimal technical background. As their CEO told us:

“At the end of the day, The Flowery is not a tech startup. We’re a factory. We’re a cannabis company. We’re just leveraging technology.”

Companies like The Flowery usually don’t have mobile app development experience in-house, which means outsourcing development, which adds a new level of complexity.

That’s why a lot of ecommerce companies call MobiLoud to help.

    The Solution

“I know there’s other companies that do the same thing but only for Shopify, but you’re probably the only one that I found that does it for WooCommerce/WordPress.”

MobiLoud fit everything The Flowery needed. We were able to build an app with their complicated tech stack, letting them bring all their custom features into the app, which nearly any other app builder would struggle to do.

We also came with push notifications included out of the box, and handled all the work for them, letting their team’s focus remain on maintaining their web app.

    Results

    __wf_reserved_inherit
The Flowery mobile app built by MobiLoud

There was skepticism. Their CEO was unsure that the project would work out, and had a feeling that the app would not get app store approval and would die before going live.

“My main concern was just that I’m going to invest a lot of time in it and I want to make sure that it goes live. I don’t want it to be a sunk cost, like you invest and invest and then it never goes live. I was super skeptical that we could get this out and that’s why I honestly wasn’t too invested in it because I didn’t think we were going to get it approved.”

However, we were able to navigate all the app stores’ requirements and get their app up and running with no hitches at all.

We’ve helped them tweak their app to look and feel the way they want, even being able to add small touches to provide an experience unique to their website.

All this with no dev work from their team. We gave them more than just an app; we gave them a mobile app team that they can call on at any time.

It’s still early days for their app, and they’re in the very early stages of rolling it out to their customer list.

But it’s given them a new range of possibilities for the future direction of their business.

Launch Your App With MobiLoud Today

“The investment is minimal, and it’s worth spending $700 and waiting two months to see if you can get an app. It’s the best value for money that you can get, no doubt, it’s the fastest way to go to market.”

We did for The Flowery what we’ve done for more than 2,000 successful businesses – helped them ship an app in less than a month, without spending hundreds of thousands on development, without sacrificing key features from their website, and without adding a crippling maintenance load to keep the apps running.

If you want to do the same, and have your very own app in the app stores in as little as two weeks, get in touch with us today.

  • How Savvik Plans to Make Emergency Equipment Procurement More Accessible Through Mobile Apps

How Savvik Plans to Make Emergency Equipment Procurement More Accessible Through Mobile Apps

When you’re connecting emergency services with life-saving equipment, accessibility matters.

That’s why Savvik, a non-profit buying group serving public safety agencies across the country, is launching a mobile app to put critical purchasing power directly in first responders’ pockets.

    Key Takeaways:

    – Making bulk discounts and public bids accessible to emergency services

    – Building mobile-first experience for on-duty personnel

    – Streamlining procurement processes through the app

    – Unifying multiple purchasing channels in one platform

    – Creating a direct connection to the first responder community

    More Than a Buying Group

Savvik bridges a critical gap in emergency services procurement. From uniforms and trauma equipment to ambulances and cardiac monitors, they help departments of all sizes access bulk discounts and simplified procurement processes.

Christina Brand, Savvik’s Digital Technology & Content Manager explained:

“We’re a nonprofit buying group exclusively for public safety personnel. We help departments bypass complex bid processes by doing it for them, saving them time and money in resources, and ensuring every agency gets the best prices.”

This unique approach transforms how emergency services acquire equipment.

By aggregating buying power and streamlining procurement, they help everyone from small-town departments to major cities access better pricing and simpler purchasing processes.

    Where Mobile Meets Mission

Savvik serves three distinct audiences: procurement professionals managing contracts, department leaders handling operations, and front-line personnel needing immediate equipment. Each group’s needs are unique, but they all increasingly engage through mobile.

    Christina notes:

“Most of our email engagement happens on mobile. We need to be right there in their pockets when they need us.”

This insight into their users’ behavior highlighted a clear opportunity: by making their platform more accessible through mobile, they could better serve each audience while strengthening their competitive advantage against mainstream retailers.

    The Technical Challenge

With content ranging from contract documentation to e-commerce, Savvik needed a mobile solution that could handle their complex requirements without creating additional overhead. Custom development wasn’t feasible, but they couldn’t compromise on functionality.

    Christina explains about choosing MobiLoud:

“The solution is incredibly straightforward, anything we do on our website reflects immediately in the app.”

This approach allows their lean team to focus on serving their community rather than managing multiple platforms. Updates made to their website appear instantly in the app, ensuring all users have access to the latest information and offers.

    Launch Strategy

Savvik’s approach focuses on delivering immediate value to each user group through features like app-exclusive access to limited stock items, easy contract documentation access for procurement meetings, and conference-specific features.

    Christina notes:

“A lot of our issues with membership are awareness-based. Having this in their pockets changes everything.”

Their strategy extends beyond just having another sales channel. By integrating push notifications, special offers, and future continuing education resources, they’re building a platform that serves their community’s complete needs.

    Looking Forward

For organizations looking to expand their reach without disrupting existing systems, Savvik proves that mobile solutions can combine simplicity with robust functionality.

With their new app, Savvik is making life-saving equipment more accessible to first responders exactly when and where it’s needed. By leveraging this new channel, they’re streamlining procurement and empowering public safety agencies to stay focused on their mission: protecting communities.

  • Fellowship of Christian Athletes Loved MobiLoud’s White-Glove Service

Fellowship of Christian Athletes Loved MobiLoud’s White-Glove Service

When Fellowship of Christian Athletes wanted to build mobile apps for their group of coaches and athletes, they went looking for an affordable, simple solution.

That solution turned out to be MobiLoud. We’d already built something similar with the Train the Mind app, and were able to show this as an example of the power, usability and convenience we could provide, with limited investment.

The app turned out to be just what they were looking for. Even better was the service, letting them dive headfirst into the mobile app space, despite zero prior experience building mobile apps.

Read on to learn more about how we helped them build the perfect mobile apps.

    About Fellowship of Christian Athletes

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is a group that unites faith and athletics. They’re a non-profit organization that provides coaching and support for Christian athletes, inspiring them to grow and excel while maintaining their Christian values.

They have a presence in 114 countries, and have been operating since 1954.

    The Challenge

With a platform built for coaches and athletes, a mobile presence was a must. Users had to be able to access content, such as on-demand videos of coaching drills, on the go from their mobile devices.

They specifically wanted something that people would be able to download to their phone or tablet – an app.

The big hurdle for a non-profit organization like theirs, however, is having the means to create an app. Native apps can take tens, or even hundreds of thousands of dollars to build, not to mention a lot more to keep up to date.

That kind of investment simply is not in the budget of an organization like theirs. They were left to choose between settling for their mobile website, or finding another way to create an app.

    The Solution

“We already know how to do a website but we don’t have any mobile developers on the team. Then we found that MobiLoud allows us to take our WordPress website and serve it as mobile apps.”

MobiLoud offered the solution that FCA needed. We could help them convert their website into an app, doing it for a tiny percentage of the time and money it would take to create a fully native, custom app.

On top of that, we provided them with a level of service that was above and beyond anything else they would find on the market, which was key for a company with no prior experience in developing mobile apps.

    Why They Chose MobiLoud

A few things stood out to make Services Management Manager Trevor Narer choose MobiLoud.

“The pricing model was very attractive, but also your guys’ ability to walk alongside us. You did some of the additional configurations and submitted the apps to the app stores. That kind of white-glove support that you guys provided us was helpful since it’s the first app we’ve launched.”

Many of our customers have raved about the care and attention they get from us, as Trevor did.

Though he did look at other options, the price, feature set and level of service we promised made MobiLoud the clear choice.

“We looked at another competitor, but your features and service put them way above the rest.”

FCA Sports Coach mobile app built by MobiLoud

We helped Trevor launch the FCA Sports Coach app, which was a simple yet effective reimagining of their original website.

Having optimized their site for mobile already, there was little work to do to get it to feel like a true native app.

“We designed our site with a mobile-first approach, so when we translated it to the app it felt very native from a user perspective.”

Their users are very happy with the app too.

“We’ve heard nothing but great feedback, especially from coaches who are out on the practice field. They can now remember what the drill was, just by pulling up the video real quick. They could stream it from Vimeo, see a demonstration and then go and execute the drill for their teams.”

And behind the scenes, we continue to make it easy for their team to, without any mobile developers on staff, keep their app maintained and up to date.

“We had an issue where Google changed some of their terms and agreements that we ended up being in violation of. We reached out to the MobiLoud team and you guys are able to log in, get it resolved and get our app back out there without any issues.”

“The full-service package, the app submission stuff, that was great.”

Having an app has been great for FCA, aligning them with the expectations of today’s mobile-first audience.

“It feels like a mobile app is a huge win to the users who are expecting their apps on their phone to be an app and not just a PWA. So this is incredibly viable and gives you a greater scope with an audience that you may not have had previously.”

  • MobiLoud Helped Launch of a European Union-Funded App to Support Migrant Workers

MobiLoud Helped Launch of a European Union-Funded App to Support Migrant Workers

The European Federation of Food, Agriculture, and Tourism Trade Unions (EFFAT) commissioned an app to help support seasonal and migrant workers in the EU. And they needed it fast, in time for the upcoming summer and the flood of seasonal workers who require support and crucial information on their labor and social rights.

The result is Season@Work, a website and mobile app that provides migrant workers with all the information they need, right at their fingertips. Read how MobiLoud helped them build this platform, by providing the most straightforward, cost-effective and timely way to create mobile apps.

    About the Season@Work App

The agricultural industry in the European Union employs around 10 million workers, approximately 4 million of whom are temporary or migrant workers originating from another EU member state, or a nation outside the EU.

The Season@Work app and website is built to support these people, helping them avoid hardship, isolation and discrimination due to a lack of knowledge about their host countries and their rights within.

EFFAT Secretary General Kristjan Bragason stated:

“Through the app, seasonal workers will get easy access to information about their rights and the applicable working conditions in the country of destination. This information will be of great help and will give the possibility to actually experience decent employment.”

Building it as a mobile app was particularly important, as the organization’s research found that the majority of migrant workers have smartphones, and that smartphones are their preferred way to watch videos and consume content.

    The Challenge

The task of creating the Season@Work platform came upon the European Migrant Workers Union. The project manager was Ivan Ivanov, who stated their first issue was finding a simplistic solution that fit within the budget given to them by the EU.

“We did consider developing an app from the ground up. But unfortunately, we didn’t have the budget to do so. We tried to find an easy solution by simultaneously developing the website and app, while staying within our budget.”

As a native app can cost upwards of $100,000 per platform to launch (and that’s not considering the ongoing costs), this was clearly out of their price range.

Ivan moved on to companies, like MobiLoud, who could help them create an app. They had certain needs from this, one of which was to be able to offer the app in 11 different languages.

“We did research on which providers could serve our purposes. One key issue was the multiple languages that we needed to implement, many providers did not support this type of feature.”

Delivery time also proved an issue with many app development solutions they looked into.

“The second issue was delivery time. We were quite late with our plan, we were supposed to start app development at the end of last year but as it usually goes with projects, there’s some delay. We also had a conference coming up, and it was very important to be able to present the apps at this conference.”

    The Solution

MobiLoud was the only one that stood out and ticked all the boxes.

“When we found MobiLoud, there were two or three other companies in line. We approached all of them and asked if they could meet our criteria. That’s how we came about to work with you because you met all of our criteria, all the features and specifications in between.”

Ivan and the team were skeptical at first, unsure that MobiLoud was going to stack up where other providers didn’t.

“In the beginning, we had some problems understanding how the platform works and how the website would be transferred into a mobile application. We also had some doubts about how the multiple languages would function because we already had run some tests with other providers and they were failing.”

Yet those doubts were soon put to rest.

“So we had some doubts if this will work, but so far everything is working well.”

Ivan was particularly amazed at how fast they were able to go live – literally under two weeks.

“The delivery time is excellent. I mean 10 days, 10 working days.”

The resulting app was everything that EFFAT and the European Migrant Workers Union were looking for. Along with coming in within budget and well within their deadline, the app performs well and is easy to use.

“We are promoting the application to our partners in the different National States and also different NGOs for migrants and seasonal workers and so far we have a lot of positive feedback about the usability and the performance of the apps.”

Their launch, in April 2023, was accompanied by a press release stating the benefit that the app is able to bring to the agricultural sector, as well as this launch video:

  • OneHE Expands Their Platform for a Modern Audience with Mobile Apps from MobiLoud

OneHE Expands Their Platform for a Modern Audience with Mobile Apps from MobiLoud

When an online training community for educators decided to expand their services to the US market, they decided the time was right to also launch a big new feature – a mobile application.

OneHE, however, are not a tech company. They don’t have mobile developers on staff, or a big budget to hire a team or an agency to build an app. So how did they do it?

Answer: with MobiLoud. We made it easy for OneHE to convert their existing website to apps for Android and iOS devices, and connect with a younger and more modern user base.

Read on to see how they did it.

    What is OneHE?

OneHE is a platform that provides training and support for professionals who work in private education. They do so in a bite-sized “microlearning” format, with courses consisting of short 20-minute resources that can be completed on the go.

OneHE was established in 2018, pivoting towards the online course format in early 2020. Today, they have users from universities and colleges across the United States, along with Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Europe.

    Why Mobile Apps?

Customer success manager Nikki Spalding admitted that many of their early users were quite traditional, and as such, tended to prefer desktop for consuming content.

But to grow their platform, and to continue to stay relevant as their audience becomes younger, they needed to cater to those who wanted more convenient access to content.

That meant people who, like many today, are mobile-first, accessing content on the go. This idea goes hand in hand with the aim of the platform to provide short resources that can be completed anywhere, any time the user has a few minutes to spare.

“Our goal is to be accessible 24/7 and people can do it while they are on their commute or walking in the park or whatever it might be – each course only takes 20 minutes. So having an app was essential to really push the mobility and flexibility of when and where people can access the content.”

Recreating Their Site’s Experience in the App

The first place the OneHE team looked to create their mobile app was a platform they were already using. Online course platform BuddyBoss (which, OneHE is built on, along with WordPress) provided a service to create mobile apps for course providers.

It was only logical to check out this option first. But Nikki found that, based on the feedback she gathered, this option would not be able to fully recreate what makes their website so successful.

“We wanted to have a bit more of flexibility and to be able to share all the different content pipes that we have within our site in the app.”

So they looked at several other app builders. MobiLoud won out as the one that ticked all the boxes. With our platform, they were able to get mobile apps that fit within their budget, in the time frame they needed, without sacrificing any key features from their website.

“We were taking in consideration value for the money and the speed which we would get set up. We were just about to launch in the US market when we got the app, and we wanted to make sure that those two things lined up nicely. Having the app ready by the moment we launched in the US was a big part of our marketing strategy and MobiLoud did that very well.”

    The Results

So far, the app has been a big success for Nikki – and for OneHE users.

“In terms of feedback, it’s been great. We had people tweeting about how they enjoyed using the app while going through our courses.”

They were able to launch their apps in time with their US launch, enter the app stores, and provide a valuable new feature for their customers.

And it’s been a simple process, thanks to the team of app experts at MobiLoud. Nikki hasn’t had to worry about any of the technical aspects of building an app, along with the stresses of getting their apps approved with the app stores.

“Their responsiveness has been a big thing, taking out all the stress out of the Google and Apple submission and really any of the technical stresses.”

  • Train the Mind Builds a Professional, 5-Star Mobile App for Minimal Investment with MobiLoud

Train the Mind Builds a Professional, 5-Star Mobile App for Minimal Investment with MobiLoud

MobiLoud allows all kinds of business to launch their own mobile apps, fast and affordably. It’s particularly valuable for subscription-based websites, who can make huge gains by increasing usage and retention rates.

Train the Mind is a perfect example of this. Founder Jake Gracia thought building a mobile app would be a huge and risky investment – until she found us.

Keep reading to learn more about the Train the Mind story, and how we helped them launch a professional, high-quality mobile app for a minimal investment.

    What is Train the Mind?

Train the Mind is an online mental performance training gym. They focus on helping primarily young athletes master the mental side of their game, with help from sports psychologists, mental performance professionals and pro athletes from some of the world’s top sporting organizations.

They started out with Zoom classes, expanding into a subscription-based platform with on-demand video content.

    Why Mobile Apps?

Subscription-based sites like Train the Mind are the perfect use case for mobile apps.

One of the key parts of becoming a more user-friendly platform was supporting a userbase who were often traveling, accessing content on the go, from locations such as airports and hotels.

Mobile apps provided a potential solution. It made it easy to access content from anywhere via mobile devices, and could seriously increase retention by allowing people to use their site more often.

Most importantly, it was what their customers wanted. But Jake was unsure of the viability of building and launching a mobile app at this stage.

“I knew we had to get an app out there but the cost of building an app and hiring a team was not realistic for us at the time. That was one of the first questions I would get asked every time we talked with schools, coaches and teams: do you have an app?”

    Searching For The Right Solution

“I can’t tell you the name of the competitors, but I can tell you I looked and looked, I’m a researcher, so it took me a while to trust that this was legit.”

Jake looked through a vast number of options to figure out what the best course of action was to build the Train the Mind mobile app.

She knew that hiring a team to build native apps for them was not really viable. There was the cost, for one thing – as a small business, not something that they could afford without bringing in investment. And besides that, the hassle of managing multiple platforms was not appealing to Jake.

“The last thing I want is to rely on another team to develop another product. The idea is just sounds awful now, I want to update one thing and have it propagate to all the tools that my users use. Having to maintain two environments and two skill sets that I would have to pay, is just not ideal to me.”

So she found MobiLoud. To Jake, it looked like the perfect solution. She didn’t think it was possible to create a mobile app for such a low investment, until we came along.

“Finding your product was so unbelievable. I come from a technology background – I was an IT product manager at a start-up. So my old colleagues would mention that this would be at least 6 figures to have an app, and then you have to find the talent, finding developers. Just so many roadblocks that it was not realistic so we just kept improving the website. When I found your product it was so wonderful because I was able to deliver exactly what we wanted, and it was affordable.”

She received some pushback on the simplicity of our platform. But that simplicity was exactly what she needed. The app delivered almost everything she wanted from a native app, at a fraction of the cost.

“I have got to tell you, some of my colleagues would tell me, it’s just mirroring your website. But they don’t understand, if you can download the app to your phone and you can use the app the way you would use any other app, that’s all I need!”

    The MobiLoud Experience

Jake was more than pleased with what she found with MobiLoud, giving her a way to build mobile apps that she previously didn’t think was possible.

“I know all of these tech incubators, and the student startup programs at the universities we work with and I told them, oh my god I found the secret weapon to create a business without mortgaging your house to do it. It is such a godsend.”

Like many MobiLoud users before her, Jake also raved about the service element. Our team was there to support her the whole way. Whether there were things she could do herself, within the MobiLoud builder, or if she had more custom asks, she found it was always possible.

“You guys were so easy to work with. I had some asks early on that you accommodated, and it was affordable. The thing I love the most is that you have this sort of white glove option, like you can have us do everything for you or we can give you the instructions.”

    The Result

“I love it, the coaches love it, it’s very simple, we have streamlined it completely. The best compliment I get is “it’s just like Netflix”, which is exactly what I was going for.”

With MobiLoud, Jake and the team were able to launch the perfect mobile apps to expand their platform.

Customers love it – giving it a perfect 5 out of 5 stars on the App Store so far.

She’s still met with disbelief from others who, like Jake before she found MobiLoud, didn’t think it possible to build such high-quality mobile apps, so easily, with so little money invested up front.

“I can’t tell you how many investors I’ve talked to from my world that have said, “I’m so impressed that you haven’t expended that much money, there are so many companies that expend more than this and they don’t even have a viable product”.”

Build Your Own Mobile Apps for Minimal Investment with MobiLoud

“I would say it’s the best decision I ever made going with you guys, I was so convinced I could not offer an app until I was a big company that could take on that expense. It was so amazing as a small business owner to be able to offer an app without going into debt, without having to get investors.”

The Train the Mind app has been a roaring success, and surprised Jake with how easy and affordable it is.
